  • Closed early for faculty meetings, staff training, workshops, and special events

MISSION STATEMENT

The media center program provides access to information and ideas for all users. It affords opportunities for students to appreciate literature and the cultural arts, to learn creative thinking skills, to become critical seekers of information and ideas and to use instructional and educational technology effectively so they may become independent life-long learners and decision makers.


The Palmetto Elementary Library Media Center is a beautiful state of the art, multi-purpose facility that serves as the hub of the school. Students, parents, faculty and community members utilize materials and equipment for recreation, reference and information purposes. We invite you to visit the media center's:

  • Collection of over 16,600 print and non-print materials for checkout including books, DVDs / videos, periodicals, and equipment
  • Closed Circuit TV Broadcast Studio home of "WPAL" and "Good Morning Palmetto", Palmetto Elementary School's daily live closed circuit broadcast
  • 20 Networked PC computers located on the main floor for online book catalog, Accelerated Reader tests, technology training, and 10 MBS Internet access
  • Audio Visual Creation Station featuring Apple technology with iMovie and iPhoto production
  • Merrill Lynch Computer Lab featuring 27 networked computers, overhead multimedia projector and color laser printer for weekly class instruction
  • Computer server for the Palmetto Elementary LAN (local area network)
  • Publishing center
  • SmartBoard technology for large and small group presentations
  • 125 gallon fish tank
